Black Marlin Bayside Grill. Palmetto Bay Marina, South Central, Seafood, 785-4950. Very attractive, water-oriented restaurant tucked away at Palmetto Bay Marina, near the bridge over Broad Creek. Patrons may choose to dine either indoors or outside on an extensive veranda, with a view of Broad Creek. Black Marlin Bayside Grill serves an excellent brunch onSaturdays and Sundays, from 10:00-2:00. Lunch (11:00- 4:00) and dinner (starting at 4:00) are served seven days a week. British Open Pub. Okatie Creek Golf Club location only (Sun City-ask for free pass and directions at main gate, on Highway 278), North, American, 705-4005. Flamingo’s, HHI’s only specialty doughnut shop, specializes in fresh, hot, hand-dipped, custom made cake doughnuts. Create yours today-pick from glazes, fi llings and toppings, including jimmies, nuts, candies and more. Or, pick from over a dozen of their popular specialty doughnuts. Doughnuts are served all day, but if you’re in the mood for a traditional breakfast, Flamingo’s has eggs, French toast, bagels, omelets, and more! For lunch, choose from a sandwich, salad, or burger...and have a doughnut for dessert! Or maybe just have a bunch of doughnuts! Frankie Bones. 1301 Main Street Village, North, American/Italian, (843) 682-4455. The Frankie Bones concept is big city dining, big booths, soft lighting, crisp snappy service with Sinatra playing in the background, reminiscent of the enduring restaurants in Chicago and New York of the 50’s and 60’s. Frankie’s serves lunch and dinner seven days a week, plus Sunday Brunch from 11:00 until 3:00. Brunch patrons may choose from a wide variety of omelets and eggs, quiches, benedicts, french toast, pancakes, fresh fruit, and more. Or, enjoy a sandwich, a burger (with many possible toppings), an appetizer, or one of Frankie’s Signature Sunday Cocktails. There even is a special menu for the kids!

French Bakery & Courtyard Cafe. Central Atrium of Pineland Station Mall (Highway 278 and Mathews Drive), Bakery/Breakfast, 342-5420. Baker/Pastry Chef Johny uses traditional French recipes, baking methods and French ingredients to produce delicious breads, pastries and other great things to eat. Enjoy breakfast in the bakery/cafe, or outdoors in the covered courtyard. Open Monday-Saturday from 8:30 am-4:30 pm.

Harbour Town Grill. Harbour Town Clubhouse (open to the public), Sea Pines Resort, American, 363-8380. Enjoy a full breakfast in the attractive Clubhouse overlooking the ninth hole of the Harbour Town Golf Links. Watch the golfers approach the green! Served every day from 7-11 am.

Hinchey’s Chicago Bar & Grill. Coligny Circle, near Holiday Inn, South Central, American/ Pasta, 686-5959. Walk into Hinchey’s Chicago Bar & Grill and you will think (almost) that you are in Chicago! There are lots of Chicago memorabilia, and TV’s to watch sports. It is very casual, with beach goers invited to stop by (please wear shirts and shoes!). Hinchey’s is open seven days a week. Breakfast 7-10:30, Mon.-Sat., 7-11:00 Sundays. Call for details. Free underground parking available.

Island Bagel Co.
South Island Square (about a mile south of Palmetto Dunes entrance, near Longhorn Steakhouse), South Central, 686-3353; also Sheridan Park, Bluffton, 815-5300; AMERICAN. Excellent bagels, sandwiches and specialty sandwiches, “Seattle’s Best” espresso, coffee and lattes, plus soups and salads. Hilton Head’s only bagel shop makes its bagels from scratch! They also cook their own turkeys and prime rib in house. Open for breakfast and lunch from 7:00 am-3:00 pm Monday-Saturday, and until 2:00 Sundays. Entire menu available from opening to closing. Catering and offi ce deliveries available. Call-ins welcome.

Kenny B’s Cajun Seafood Hut. Circle Bi-Lo Center (behind Wild Wing Cafe), Pope Ave., South Central, American/New Orleans/Seafood, 785-3315. Full breakfast menu, including beignets, french toast, pancakes, omelettes, much more. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, Sunday brunch.

Land’s End Tavern. South Beach Marina Village, Sea Pines, Seafood/Steaks, 671-5456. Fun, family-oriented restaurant overlooking South Beach Marina offering continuous service for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Take-out available. “No reservations please.”

One Hot Mama’s. 7-A Greenwood Dr., Hilton Head Plaza (near Sea Pines Circle), HHI, SC 29928, South Central, 682-6262, American/ Steaks/Ribs. Large portions, great food, friendly environment, great value! Mama’s serves a tempting “All You Can Eat Sunday Brunch Buffet,” including an omelet & waffl e station, pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausages, BBQ can/Steaks/Ribs. Palmetto Bay Sun Rise Cafe. Palmetto Bay Marina (on the right, just past the entrance), South Central, Breakfast/American, 686-3232. Great breakfast fare starting before the sun rises, from 6:00 am. Now expanded seating on veranda, with clear roll down walls available in the event of cold or inclement weather. Lunch items also are available from 6:00 am. Both breakfast and lunch items are available continuouslyuntil closing. Eggs are available many ways, or choose a quiche, a strata, pancakes, french toast, smoked salmon, or biscuits and gravy. Patrons also may choose from a tempting selection of lunch plates, sandwiches, soups and salads. Try their crabcakes, eggs benedict (they make their own hollandaise sauce), she-crab soup, crinkle-cut french fries, and their daily blue plate special for lunch. Recently expanded lunch menu. Before or after you dine, stroll out onto the docks, and look at the boats! Full liquor license. The Cafe specializes in “to go” lunches for charter boats, the beach, or any other occasion!

Skillets. Coligny Plaza (in separate building across parking lot from Piggly Wiggly grocery store), South Central, American, 785-3131. Unusually attractive cafe. Skillets serves unique “served in a porcelain skillet” breakfasts, plus an excellent selection of soups, salads, and other good things to eat. Very extensive breakfast menu. Try their eggs benedict! The entire breakfast menu at Skillets is served from 8 am through lunch seven days a week. Limited breakfast selection later. Dine indoors or on attractive patios. Casual dress. Take-out available.


Skull Creek Boathouse. 397 Squire Pope Road (near back gate of Hilton Head Plantation, next to Hudson’s on the Docks restaurants), North, skullcreekboathouse. com, Seafood, 681-3663. Located on the scenic banks of Skull Creek, overlooking the broad Intra-Coastal Waterway, Pinckney Island Wildlife Preserve and the adjacent marina. Attractive and expansive deck, and covered outdoor Buoy Bar at Marker 13. Numerous kinds of seafood, often prepared with an interesting “twist” from standard recipes. For Brunch, enjoy drop donuts, french toast, pancakes, eggs, omelettes, quiches, benedicts, breakfast sandwiches, and Boathouse Brunch Plates. Brunch is served from 10:00-3:00 on Saturdays and Sundays. Continuous service every day from 11:30 am through dinner, Sunset Supper from 4:00-5:45 pm daily, and Happy Hour at the inside and outside bars from 4-7:00 daily. Southern Coney. 70-J Pope Avenue, Bi Lo Center, South Central, American, 689-2447. Super pancakes and other made-from-scratch breakfast favorites. Featuring Charleston Coffee Roasters coffee. Casual, family friendly restaurant serving breakfast and lunch from 8:00-3:00, Tuesday-Sunday through March, then entire menu until 9:00 pm starting April 1. Breakfast is served all day.

Stack’s Pancakes. West side of William Hilton Parkway ( Highway 278). About a mile south of the entrance to Palmetto Dunes. South Central, Breakfast /American, 341-3347. Stack’s Pancakes serves full breakfast and lunch from 6:30 am-2: 30 pm, including pancakes, eggs, homemade crepes, their own Stack’s original “Crème Brule French Toast,” Eggs Benedict, Crab Benedict, light and fl uffy omelets, fresh Florida squeezed juice, and their fresh ground coffee. They grind their own coffee beans for each pot just before brewing. Quality ingredients are used, including pure whipping cream, quality score butter for cooking, fresh grade AA large eggs, and apple smoked bacon. Children’s menu and take out orders are available.
