THROUGH AUGUST...COASTAL DISCOVERY
MUSEUM - AMPHIBIANS
AND REPTILES. Presented by Tony Mills
of the LowCountry Institute, you will learn
why these intriguing animals are so important
to our local habitats. Participants will
get up close and personal with live snakes,
turtles, lizards, alligators and other “herp”
that are native to the state. At the end of
the presentation, attendees will even get a
chance to touch a snake and an alligator.

THROUGH AUGUST...COASTAL DISCOVERY
MUSEUM - MAMMALS AND
BIRDS OF PREY. A variety of Lowcountry
animals will be on display and you can learn
about their habits. Scheduled to appear from
Oatland Island Wildlife Center are; barred
owl, screech owl, fl ying squirrel, opossum
and armadillo. Participants will have the opportunity
to not only see these animals, but
take photos of them as well! Fee. Reservations

JONES FREE GOLF DEMONSTRATION.
4:45 pm - 5:30 pm. ‘Where Does
the Power Come From?’ Each Monday
afternoon, Doug Weaver conducts a free,
45-minute golf clinic and demonstration
entitled “Where Does the Power Come
From?” at the Jones Golf Center. Golfers
are encouraged to ask questions during the
hands-on, fully interactive class. The audience
size is unlimited. Everyone is welcome.

TUESDAYS...VAN DER MEER TENNIS
SOCIAL ROUND ROBIN. 3:00 pm - 5:00.
Come join them in a social round robin at
Van Der Meer Tennis in Shipyard Plantation.
Fee per person, and refreshments are served
at the conclusion of play. It is a good way
to meet some people and have some fun

THROUGH AUGUST...COASTAL DISCOVERY
MUSEUM - SEA TURTLES
ON HILTON HEAD. A special guided tour
offered June through the end of August, is
the Evening Turtle Talk and Walk. This tour
is designed to give participants information
about the nationally threatened species,
loggerhead sea turtles. Participating in one
of these programs is one of the safest ways
of viewing this species and learning how to
help protect this threatened species. They
are protected by State and Feberal Laws,
and the Museum staff is trained in the proper
procedures to follow during the turtle season.

3RD...HARBOURFEST/FIREWORKS.
6:00 pm - 9:30 pm. HarbourFest has earned
the distinction of being Shelter Cove Harbour’s
signature summer event. From April
through September, Shelter Cove features
live entertainment seven nights a week,
plus unforgettable food, arts and crafts, fi reworks
and a fl urry of activity. All events at
HarbourFest are free and open to the public.
Fireworks serve as the centerpiece for HarbourFest.
The breathtaking display lights up
the sky just after dusk. Troubadour Shannon
Tanner, a fi xture at HarbourFest since 1988,
blends the sounds of the ‘60s with sing-alongs
and his own original ballads.
10TH...SUMMER JAMS. 7:00 pm - 10:00
pm. Shelter Cove Community Park. The
highlight of every Tuesday night is the fi reworks
displayed over Shelter Cove Harbour.
Join the Island Recreation Center at Shelter
Cove Park to enjoy the Party in the Park
with entertainment by Jeff Tayler and the
fi reworks. Concessions will be sold.
10TH THROUGH 15TH...BJORN
AGAIN: THE ABBA EXPERIENCE.
Attention dancing queens, you won’t want
to miss this f-ABBA-ulous tribute to Sweden’s
legendary pop quartet that is receiving
worldwide cult status in its own right. Experience
the glitter-laden fun of all of ABBA’s
hits - “Mamma Mia,” “Fernando,” “Take a
Chance on Me” and more! ABBA founder
Benny Andersson says of the show, “It’s the

18TH...GULLAH COOKING AND LIVING.
3:00 pm. until 4:30 pm. Join cookbook
author and Daufuskie native Salle Ann Robinson
as she prepares dishes from one of her
cookbooks. Then you sample what she cooks
after class! Classes are held in the kitchen
at the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey
Horn. Fee per person and reservations are

24TH...BIRDING AT HONEY HORN.
Join an experienced bird watcher as you
walk through Salt Marsh, Maritime Forest
and open fi elds at the Coastal Discovery Museum
at Honey Horn. Depending on the time
of year, you might see a Summer Tanager,
Eastern Kingbird, Painted Bunting, Yellowbellied
Sapsucker, Egrets, and many, many
others. Fee per person and you must be 12
years of age to participate. Reservations are
